Knavesmire star parties

Our star parties have ended for this ‘season’ and will recommence in the autumn when the evening skies are darker. For dates and location see below.

Join our members with their telescopes for one of our public observing sessions and enjoy the beauties of the night sky. A great way to introduce your family to astronomy, our star parties take place on the Knavesmire in central York with easy car parking, and on dates when the moon will be visible (weather permitting!)

if you have a telescope and aren’t sure how to use it, bring that along and we will try to help you.

Next dates:

  • Thursday 5 September, from 7pm
  • Thursday 3 October, from 7pm
  • Thursday 31 October, from 7pm
  • Thursday 21 November, from 7pm
  • Thursday 19 December, from 7pm

For stargazing events at other locations see our events page.

These public observing sessions only take place during the darker months.
